It isn't to stop aggression, because Saddam has remained inside his box for a decade, since the end of the Gulf War. ... Baghdad's neighbors fear the consequences of an American invasion far more than they fear Saddam, his weakened army or his depleted arsenal of chemical and biological weapons.

This statement requires blindness to everything Saddam has said and done since the Gulf War. Not only has he survived, he has proclaimed himself victor and worked tirelessly to break down the box. Weapons inspectors went four years ago. Sanctions went this year. Only military force remains, and do you think it will stay when Saddam has nukes? Even the assertion about the neighbors is wrong, with the exception of SA, who will pay for their double game however things turn out. The neighbors don't fear our invasion more than Saddam; they fear our leaving the job half-done again and leaving them in the lurch like last time. They know perfectly well that Saddam is a resurgent menace; why else have they been playing kissy-face with him lately? Do you suppose they love him?
