That leads me to believe that 9-11 has become an excuse for their radically different foreign policy, not only a reason to shut down Al Q.

Your "excuse" is my "justification."

But be clear in your mind that the adminstration is NOT claiming a connection between Iraq and 9/11.

What they HAVE discovered is that, contrary to the received wisdom in the past, terrorist groups cooperate, including Islamists terrorists and secular terrorists. Sunni terrorists cooperate with Shia terrorists who cooperate with European terrorists. A terrorist is a terrorist is a terrorist.

Saddam sponsors terrorists, Saddam has WMD, therefore there is a clear and present danger that Saddam will give WMD to terrorists. Enough said.
