The ones he shot were mostly from Battista's regime, I suppose.
It's a long established tradition of the human species to execute the regime you overthrow.
I think jla is brilliant
Give me five posts that illustrate that.
Here's a post that jla responded to: Message 18014456
Is that brilliant?
I believe it's unlikely that many stupid people post on either of the Bush discussion boards. Crazy maybe, misinformed probably, forgetful certainly, but not stupid.
I think there are a lot of posters on those threads that mereley repeat what they've read in their favorite editorial sections and give no thought whatever as to what substantiates that opinion. I think there are a lot of people on those threads that have strong beliefs and don't really know why they have them. They just believe what they believe and never challenge their own beliefs. I think there are a lot of posters that are exceptionally defensive about being personnally wrong and/or believe that their country can only "right" things.
I'm curious as to why so many posters seem to be living in countries other than America and why some aren't even American citizens. Why is that, do you think?
I have no idea what percentage of posters are living in countries other than America or how many aren't American citizens? Do you?
I could speculate that it's very small. Why? Several reasons.
First and foremost: Uh....SI is in English. You might not be aware of this but there may be a substantial number of people that don't speak [or read] English. France, Italy, Germany, China, sort of come to mind. There may be others. Would you anticipate that there are a lot of Americans that are reading Chinese language web sites?
Second: The dominant theme of SI is US equities. I don't expect that there's a lot of FTSE investors that would be drawn to SI. Look at the SI homepage. There are two sections on the Homepage that are not directly targeted at investing in the US; AP news and Hot Coffee Talk. Personally, I've don't ever recall clicking on the AP News section, I have a link for AP News. The Hot Coffee Talk list for today is: NFL Footbal Forum Foreign Affairs Discussion Group Attack Iraq Golden Jackass Debate Porch P&S and STO Death Blows
I would hope that you would appreciate that NFL football wouldn't be a big draw to Foreign readers. Are you drawn to Golden Jackass Debate Porch and P&S and STO Death Blows? Not me. Would you anticipate that these would be topic titles that would draw a significant number of foreign readers? That leaves FADG and Attack Iraq threads. Certainly possible topics of interest for foreign readers that would like to get the "peoples view" on those subjects. [Dear god, I hope they're not]. But golly, to get to SI to happen to get to those subjects of interest is another matter. How would they get here? A general search engine, no doubt....try plugging in some "political" key words and see how often an SI link comes up.
Third, a lot of the world has a different type phone system than exists in the US. Surprise! In Europe, for example, local phone calls are tariffed, i.e., charged by the minute. So for those with dial-up connections, they're not inclined to spend hours on-line reading something like SI posts. If you were spending 4 cents a minute for every minute on-line. How many of jla's posts would you be reading. Go ahead click on jla as a member and read the last 100 of his posts and tell me how much that's worth in on-line time.
So there you have it. I don't know how many posters living in other countries or even non-Americans are reading SI. I would not expect the group to be large, it's in English, it's main thrust is US equities, there are not many apparent topics of interest for foreign readers, a general search engine for poltical topics doesn't yield SI threads and the phone tariffing in other countries would be a negative factor to participate in SI. There are some others like what does the demographic distribution of internet users look like; primarily US.
So that's what I think. What do you think?
