Justa, thanks for the charts (SOX and SOX/SP). I do not think, however, that 1995-1998 can be considered a norm. Trading on the assumption that sox will eventually return to its "long-term channel" is dangerous. For that matter trading on the basis of any 7 year long chart is dangerous.
