Fujitsu Introduces Island Drive-up ATM; Model 8031 ATM Resists Climate Extremes

and Provides Optimal Service

Business Editors

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 23, 2002--Fujitsu Transaction
Solutions Inc. introduced today the Model 8031 automated-teller
machine (ATM), a weatherized, secure island drive-up unit designed to
withstand all climate conditions while providing all the services of a
full-function, walk-up ATM.
The self-contained Model 8031, part of Fujitsu's Series 8000 ATM
family, offers banks, credit unions and other financial institutions
next-generation features, including a high-contrast color display for
easy reading on the brightest sunny days and a small footprint for
easy deployment and minimized space consumption.
"Fujitsu's Model 8031 ATM has performed well since it was
installed in July, which is the hottest time of the year in New
Mexico," said W. Everett Crawford, chairman of the board and chief
executive officer of the First National Bank of Artesia in Artesia,
N.M. "The day it was installed, the temperature topped 110 degrees.
Customer response has been excellent - they like the 8031's
easy-to-read screen and cool-to-touch feel in extreme heat, and our
transaction volume didn't slow at all after the it was installed. We'd
like to deploy more units at our other locations."
"Fujitsu continues to advance its line of ATMs to meet the
changing requirements of ATM customers nationwide," said Kent Schrock,
marketing director of financial systems for Fujitsu. "The Model 8031
addresses the needs of mobile consumers that conduct more and more
business from the safety and security of their automobiles while
providing the financial institution with a durable, reliable
investment for its ATM channel.
FiSource Inc., a Fujitsu business partner and ATM value-added
reseller headquartered in Albuquerque, N.M., installed the first Model
8031 unit at the First National Bank of Artesia.
The Web-enabled Model 8031 features:

-- Lockable steel enclosure with UL 291 safe and enhanced alarm
package to ensure security of cash and deposited media

-- Full Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance,
including the industry's first text-to-speech synthesis for
the visually impaired.

-- Dispensing of cash as well as stamps, coupons, event tickets,
credit card-sized gift cards and more.

-- Microsoft Windows operating system that supports both
traditional financial transactions and future services.

-- Large capacity dispensers, fewer moving parts, universal
components, low-maintenance thermal printers and color LCD
displays that lower total cost of ownership.
