re: China and 450 MHz

==========

"Industry sources indicate some of China's fixed-line operators want to enter the mobile wireless business through cdma2000 networks that operate in the 450 MHz band"

Telecom? Or Netcom? Or both? Railcom?

Is this Telecom's compensation for waiting on its "3G" license? Is Telecom (or MII) tired of Telecom pouring money down a PHS hole? It seems very unlikely that MII harbors plans or preferences for PHS technology, as it simply feeds a foreign vendor - to be supplanted by Huawei and ZTE...

It's also likely that Netcom wants a piece of Telecom's limited mobility market...

If fixed line operators are successful in introducing cdma 450 networks - especially prior to the award of formal 3G licenses - how will it influence Mobil's - and MII's - technology choices? How would Telecom and Netcom view 2.1mhz spectrum?

And just as China infrastructure vendors (and MII) have identified cdma450 as an opportunity, will they embrace GSM1x as well? The possibilities are geometrically - perhaps exponentially - greater.
