The increase in delinquencies is due mainly to the increase in unemployment that occurred from the first quarter to the second quarter of this year," explained MBA's chief economist, Doug Duncan. "In the first quarter, unemployment averaged 5.6 percent, but increased to an average of 5.9 percent in the second quarter. One year ago, in the second quarter of 2001, unemployment averaged 4.5 percent It would appear that although this unemployment rate is not a problem for you, it does appear to be a problem for loan delinquencies and the economy. As for tech coming around, of course it will, but are you willing to hold for instance INTC until it bottoms around 5? You won't get back to where you are today for maybe 20 years or more and that seems rather silly to me.
