Think of this. The Palestinians are a form of "5th Column" for the Arabs. They are in the heart of the Israeli "city". A Palestinian state is just a beachhead from which the destruction of Israel will originate. Hitler explicitly stated his objectives and he was ignored. The Palestinians have explicitly stated their "2 step" plan. Step 1: accept a state in the West Bank, Gaza, and E. Jerusalem. Step 2: Destroy Israel and establish a state in all of Palestine.

Think of this. Barak's plan was before 9/11. Rabin, Barak and the Israeli left believed that peace could be achieved through compromise and sharing land and Jerusalem. They were idealists and optimists, much as you are. How much murder and violence does it take for idealists and optimists to become realists? Why do you think that centuries old problems can be solved by variations of appeasement? When do you say that the violent aggressor loses the objective when the aggression fails? We don't know if Bin Laden is alive or dead, but we know that the terrorist network is still a danger. Bin Laden, Saddam, Arafat. The world acts like they are the problem and the solution is their removal. They are symptoms of the problem. The problem is centuries old.
