NOUGATS TO KILL FOR.....

Tomato,

I'm not actually a "dessert person".... More of a vegetable and vegetable person (a vegetarian you know...). HOWEVER, a small bakery in our area used to make and sell these pastries called "nougats". If I was sort of feeling down and out of sorts, Mr. VooDoo would sometimes drop by the bakery while he was picking up a load of hay for the goats on Saturday afternoon. Smart guy always knew that the sight of that white "pastry box" would put a crocodile smile back on the old VooDoo Wani. So, here is the description of the "nougats"....

.....An ultra-light pastry shell... sort of like a cream puff, but with all of the taste, much more lightness, a better texture, and not too sweet... The filling was the lightest, most delicate whipped cream with a beautifully subtle bitter chocoate-mocha flavouring..... The outside of the pastry was glazed with a clear, orange-flavoured glaze...not too sweet.... and there were curls of bitter chocolate sprinkled on top.....

Mmmmmm,....I am entirely convinced that these nougats are what angels eat all day in heaven.... They are like eating clouds....

UNFORTUNATELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ...the bakery went out of business about 2 years ago and the nougats are no more... NOW when VooDoo Wani is feeling lower than an ant's belly, Mr. VooDoo is at a complete loss as to what to do... Repeated enquiries as to the new place of employment of the "nougat baker of Osgoode" have led to an utter dead end....

And VooDoo Wani has resigned herself to the fact that she may have to wait until she is with the angels before she will once more taste another nougat....

...Dreaming of nougats......
