A few years ago when I was in Montreal on business, some
very nice young ladies were at the mtg. Turned out they
were from Bombardier. They were buying B. stock and, I
believe, getting it as part of their pension. They were
all excited about how well the company was doing. The
stock was 23.00, if I remember correctly. Today, it closed
below 4.00CAN. If it continues to fall, it will be like
NTL. NTL and BBD.A have been two of Canada's premier companies. The implications for the economy and employment are horrendous if both companies go under. The question
is what effect would such events have on the various trusts?

Oil is being driven by increasing demand and fear of war
in Iraq. Airline stocks are already collapsing. Higher oil
prices will decrease airline travel even further. I booked
two tickets today for travel in Canada and the prices are
dreadful. I can fly to Europe cheaper than to Ottawa.
Doesn't feel like a bottom yet (Walmart's report concerns
me because if they are not doing well during the fall
season, nobody else is, either. The economy must be starting
to affect buying.) Sorry to sound like the twin brothers
G&D (gloom and doom) but I feel something has changed re
the stock mkt. and the economy in the last little while.
Some sort of shift has taken place, is taking place.
Whatever it is, I don't like it.
