Headache and wobbly legs is CO for sure. But it also can cause just fall asleep drowsiness like you have been driving waaaaayyy tooooo long. If in any old car or ESPECIALLY a van, you get real head out the window to stay awake tired after about one or two hours on the road, have your vehicle smoke tested or just redo the entire exhaust front to back. Best 400 you ever spent. Then get the floor tarred and plated and welded until it passes the smoke and mirrors test. You won't smell exhaust gas in the car. Funny because you think you can smell it from the exhaust itself. Leaks at the front in the manifold gasket are not as serious. Leaks in the muffler and pipe joins etc, underneath driver's seat of the car are deadly. It's dead air there and high pressure compared to the car. Always travel with your fan on in the car full. Keep two windows cracked. This is no guarantee at all, but it is some safety at least. Even in this config you will still get excess CO with a leaky exhaust. It has to go past you to get out the window and that is enough.
