Ali, regarding your position justifying "no" integration testing against chip vendors because (in your words) "are you familiar with the concept of standardization...it just works"

Looks like a system doesn't "just work":

maxtor.custhelp.com

"Description ... I keep experiencing a lot system errors ... only happens on this computer. The symptoms don't follow the device to another known good platform."

"Answer ... may not work if either an AMD processor (350 MHz or faster), or a VIA Technologies USB controller are installed. "

Ali, so no integration component testing against AMD and VIA, huh?

There are more than 200 components inside a PC. (Your reply was: RE:"200 components? How did you arrive to this number? Did you count...screws?"..."it would be well above 1000")

Most people in the industry know how to count unique components versus multiple quantities of the same screw, and also how to discern this in dialogue without missing a beat.

To create a (working) solution, one needs to look additionally above the bottom-level BOM, at the big picture.

Regards,
Amy J
