That's a different model! But I have read about the cost of the pension before.

The problem with the GM crops is that no-one knows what the real costs of using and eating them are.

Most definitely, there are serious problems in growing them and they demand water, fertilizers and insecticides if the expected yields are to be achieved.

Then one has to buy new seed every season from Monsanto. The crop doesn't seed itself.

There may be health problems which are, as yet, undiagnosed.

As far as the starving Africans are concerned there was extreme reluctance, even in their parlous state, to eat GM corn. Not only were they worried about what it might do to them, they were concerned that it could contaminate their crop production which uses "natural" seeds.
