Thanks V-man. I Saw the breadboard model of a Navy job sitting around the antenna lab. But it was an S-Band array (2GHz). Perhaps this was a scaled model. We often would build a scale model (for size considerations), take radiation patterns, and when these were correct, we would then build the full size model and HOPE that everything remained the same when we scaled back up. For example on Intelsat-V the initial breadboard design was a K-Band array(12GHz) even though the Flight model was at C-Band (4GHz). The K-Band breadboard study was easier to build and handle than a full scale C-Band array. It's the same principle of building small airplanes for wind-tunnel studies.
