I think most people recognize that the president has nothing to do with the economy (Congress does)

I don't think either has a lot to do with the economy, but the president has almost as much to do with it as congress. The Fed probably has more then either, but most of all its just the actions of millions of Americans and billions of other people operating in a relativly free market.
