Is file and print sharing enabled?
To share files or printers on your computer, you must install the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks or File and Printer Sharing for NetWare Networks service, and then enable file or print sharing.
To install the File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks or File and Printer Sharing for NetWare Networks service
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Network.
On the Configuration tab, look in the list of components under The following network components are installed for File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks of File and printer sharing for NetWare Networks. If neither appear in the list, click Add.
Click Service, and then click Add again.
Under Models, click File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks or File and printer sharing for NewWare Networks, and then click OK.
On the Configuration tab, click OK.
To enable file or printer sharing
Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click Network.
On the Configuration tab, click File and Print Sharing.
Select the I want to be able to give others access to my files and I want to be able to allow others to print to my printer(s) check box.
Click OK.
