That's the one thing that will blow the entire region up in flames. Everyone, including Arabs and Europeans, agrees on that. Rumsfeld made a threat on Friday to the Israelis:"It would be extremely unwise for them to get involved" They will be right there with their superior army when we need them. As far as being a democracy -- Israel is merely a subsidized kleptocracy. Without funds extorted from US taxpayers they would be an entirely more amiable and peace-loving country. They would have to be. Considering the damage caused by the artificial Israeli colonial status, it would be better if they faced up to their relationship with the Arabs, rather than rattling the US saber. The Israeli interests are now opposed to US interests. Not that it matters. Saudi Arabia is a US enemy also, but they sure have Congress and the Administration on their payroll.
