4) Maybe the metaphor isn't too far off -- folks have desired the shallow thrill over making money from building real economic wealth that benefits everyone for so long -- just like not wanting to work at a relationship -- give me instant gratification instead

Well I got a little instant gratification with FNM today (twice) ... had to do something while I was waiting for some processes to run ... so it goes.
