Universal Ice Blast Receives 6 Sigma Accreditation
KIRKLAND, Wash., Sep 17, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Universal Ice Blast, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: UIBI) announced today that they have received 6 Sigma approval and accreditation. 6 Sigma is a rigorous application of proven quality management tools extensively used by General Electric and is widely accepted, including in Japan and Europe. Ford Motor Company and many other large industrial firms require that its suppliers have 6 Sigma accreditation.
This may have a significant impact on Universal Ice Blast for several reasons, among them is that ice blast products can be sold to Ford Group companies in Europe (Volvo, Jaguar, and Ford Europe) as well as Mazda in Japan. In addition the accreditation will make it easier to conclude deals with GM, Daimler Chrysler, and Japanese automakers in Asia. The problems Universal Ice Blast addressed at Ford exist in other automotive manufacturing plants worldwide. Management has estimated that the worldwide market for its products in automotive is $1.4 billion which it sees can be achieved over the next 10 years.
Universal Ice Blast, Inc. has a patented process known as the Ice Blast Technology. UIBI has positioned the technology into three, billion-dollar markets: Precision Cleaning (automated production cleaning/de-burring): Industrial Cleaning (fixed systems parts cleaning, petro-chemical and pulp and paper): and Environmental Cleaning (lead paint and asbestos abatement off steel bridges and building structures). Since 1995 the company has actively engaged in developing its technology for these markets. Substantial testing and field-research with major clients within large markets has now brought the company to full commercialization of its products in these markets.
A research report on Universal Ice Blast was recently released by Howlett Research Corp., a prominent research boutique led by Jeff Howlett.
