The News Hour with Jim Lehrer had a 3 person expert panel to discuss the Blair dossier. They all agreed that it didn't support Bush's call for an urgent, violent response.
Clinton was a politician and a person who had major failings. He also had abilities and accomplishments that may be admired. If you persist in comparing Bush to Clinton, you lose all credibility. Clinton was born with an exceptional brain in his head, Bush with an average brain in his head and a silver spoon in his mouth. The Bush Administration has been a TOTAL FAILURE. The market, the economy, the environment, civil liberties, world terrorism, Middle East conflict, and US prestige in the world are all in a terrible state. Bush is not responsible for the problems, but his administration has made each problem worse.
US prestige - when was the last time a German minister compared the US President to Adolph Hitler?
Middle East Conflict - the Prime Minister of Israel correctly ignores the President of the US.
Terrorism - It doesn't seem like it is sufficient to elect Republicans this fall, so try for an Iraqi war even if it hurts our efforts to enlist the rest of the world in the battle against terrorism.
Civil Liberties - the best way to compensate for the incompetency of our intelligence services and justice department is to restrict the civil liberties of our citizens.
The economy - the economy requires enlightened fiscal policy to support a recovery, but the Bush administration mortgaged the governments ability to react by passing a huge tax windfall for his rich cronies and supporters.
The market - confidence is missing because many CEOs and much of the securities industry benefitted through shady business practices at the expense of shareholders and customers. Unfortunately, the Bush administration adds to the loss of confidence because the Pres and Veep engaged in those same practices. |
