The US overtly is securing trade lines. In this sense the US can be viewed as an empire attempting to maintain itself. The Chinese are covertly attempting to spread influence. I don't know what their plans are but there is no reason to trust their gov. Should India Pakistan go at it, it is the Chinese who will be there to pick up the pieces, maybe do a Nepal on them.

The European union is chock full of former Empiremakers--who is to say their vice is extinguished? They have been supplying the third world with weapons and the means to produce them at least as fast as the US and they are multiple members. Eventually Europe will act as a group militarily. The Moslems are definitely hoping for world domination and oneworld religion. Some here might throw the Israelis and Zionists into the mix. There are plenty of players.
