Australia has some very large open pits. One runs in Kalgoorlie at 230,000 tons waste and ore per day and 850,000 ounces gold per year. Its stripping ratio is 6 to one or better and its gold is refractory. It is full milling and tank leach. Kalgoorlie Conslidated is under Newmont-Barrick.
