I don't care about the inspectors one way or the other and I don't support Saddam in any sense whatsoever. Nobody in the world supports Saddam. That is is why is so tragic that we failed to rally the political will among the world community to deal with Iraq. Saddam has no support, except the support we gave him by isolating ourselves on this issue. We screwed ourselves and now are trying to repair the damage.

What I want is for the United States to craft a coherent policy on Iraq -- one that will not undermine our leadership role in the system of international law that discourages countries from pre-emptively invading one another. There are dozens of countries around the world that feel threatened by their neighbors who would like to launch their own pre-emptive invasions.
