ESI Supplies Global Testing With 300 mm Laser Semiconductor Processing Equipment Businesswire, Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at 09:02
PORTLAND, Ore., Sep 25, 2002 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq:ESIO) announced today that Global Testing Corporation has placed an order for 300 mm semiconductor laser processing equipment to be installed at their facility in Hsin Chu, Taiwan.
The equipment will ship during ESI's second fiscal quarter, ending on November 30, 2002. Global Testing currently has an installed base of ESI's 1.3-micron semiconductor processing systems. This purchase is part of their continued expansion plans.
Global Testing Corporation, based in Hsin Chu, Taiwan, with a subsidiary in Sunnyvale, California, is a provider of assembly test services for the subcontractor market."This will be the beginning of our 300 mm laser capability,"said Jon Hwu, CEO."ESI and Global Testing have been working together for many years, and we are proud to continue the relationship with our latest purchase."RETURN RETURN"We are extremely pleased to be selected as an ongoing supplier to Global Testing,"said Tom Richardson, general manager of ESI's semiconductor products group."300 mm production capability is an important and necessary requirement for today's semiconductor manufacturers. ESI's patented 1.3 micron process and tool performance will enable 300 mm wafers to be produced with a reduced overall cost per die."ESI's Laser Semiconductor Processing systems use a patented 1.3 micron wavelength laser to provide critical process window capability for metal memory link materials, allowing high levels of energy to be used to remove metal links without damaging the surrounding silicon. The result is cleaner link cuts with higher yields. The systems provide high-accuracy positioning and continuous wafer processing.
