This is how the war on terrorism will be lost. Politicians like Daschle will always put partisan politics ahead of homeland security. After all, it's not Daschle's head on a platter if America allows another 9/11. It's Bush's. Daschle knows this, too.

Looking at it another way, it is hard to claim credit for preventing another 9/11 like event from happening again. If it doesn't happen as a result of American actions since 9/11, the skeptics will say that things we did didn't matter, and that another tragedy would not have happened anyway.

The same way as the liberals are now trying to take away Reagan's credit for winning the Cold War. They say the Soviet Block was going to fold anyway. BTW, I lived there 18 years, and it didn't look that way to me.
