And I still believe that were it not for Bush ramping up the rhetoric and placing N. Korea on the "axis of evil", they would still be pussy-footing around and trying to cut a better deal..

The time for "deal-making" is fast closing to an end in Korea and other intransigent nations. They need to cut that "deal" now, while they can still do so.

Kim Jong Il knows this and that's likely why they are willing to finally quit putting up the obstacles they have in the past.

Velvet gloved negotiations are seldom successful unless there's a hammer lurking in the backgroun.
