It depends on which "end of the tube" you are looking through. What these "Hand Wringers" saw as a disaster, Bush saw as the only way to make progress with N Korea.

Sometimes the only way you can make someone see the light is to withhold helping them and make them go all the way to their "Bottom."

IMO, one of the reasons that N Korea is now coming around to a workable position is that they realized that "Uncle Patsy" was no longer "desperate" about them.
