"Deal with them", or "get in bed with them" can mean a lot of different things. Sometimes you need their help, or you have to help them to prevent something bad from happening. We had to help Stalin so that he could help us defeat Hitler. We helped Iraq because we were worried about Iran. I think you should think carefully before getting involved with people like this but sometimes there is no good alternative. Tim, IMO there is never a good reason to be in league with the devil. It certainly made no sense with Iraq/Iran......we were simply playing god games over there. With Stalin, he played the Allies and Axis powers off against each other......that alone should have told you to say away from him. As it turned out, Germany would have turned on Russia whether they joined with us or not.......and the German soldiers would have been stopped by the Russian winter. And Stalin wouldn't have gotten away with the stuff he did after WWII. But over and over, we are duped by our leaders into to believing the only way to win is to make friends with undesirables, and inenvitably, we end up leaving the relationship with fleas. Saddam is just one more example of the perpetuation of that myth. ted
