Very good. The biggest problem with our schizophrenic justice system is that we can't decide whether we are after a pound of flesh or maintenance of peace and safety. You can no more guarantee that a person feels punished by our treatment than you can guarantee another person's happiness by our treatment. Apparently you do have periods of lucidity.
