They do not need this type of evidence to make the case. They would be fools to have Rice say this without backup. Why lie?

I don't think they think they are lying. I think they think they can put this stuff forward without also, simultaneously, offering the evidence for reasons that escape me. The contrast with the Blair approach is a bad one. You can take the assertions in the Blair document, then argue about their implications for policy. With the Bush folk, they tend to argue they are going to do x because of something and leave us to "trust" them.

I move, if it's not evident, increasingly toward forms of public protest. However, for a variety of reasons, there is an increasingly strong likelihood I will spend a day in a couple of weeks with tek. If that happens, it will help to run all this by him.
