Actually, it might flourish in homes as well. However, many homes might be equipped with servers, and not just (thin) clients. Imagine having your telephone, TV, VCR, thermostat, alarm clock and other appliances, and maybe even light switches, running Java in communication with your central household server, which also links to the outside world via the Internet. A little George Jetsonian, but not beyond imagining. You could connect from your motel room and check the "health" of your house, a lot like JPL does with the Mars rover, or from your car on the way home to boost the A/C.
