When you play god and you are not one, you get into trouble very quickly.

Selling some weapons to one side (or actually both sides if you count the sales connected to Iran/Contra) means we are playing God??

Tim, we sold more than a few weapons......we helped train the Iraqis and back in the late 80's, we looked the other way when American companies sold them equipment for their nuclear and biochemical developments.

This kind of behavior rarely works on a personal level, and typically is the fodder for soap operas so why should it work in the arena of nations.

It often works on a personal level. If someone is reaching for a gun and you shoot them first then they are less likely to shoot you.

I'm sorry......I thought you lived in the 21st century and not back in the Wild, Wild West days. <g>

I was thinking more in terms of people manipulating other people to get what they want.......like the guy at work who's trying to get things to go his way, or a girl who wants her boyfriend to buy her a ring.

Can we stay non violent on this issue, please? <g>
