The big issue with div stripping in my opinion is the frequency, a monthly dist is too small, so not you trade the Q's, 4x a year and a small selection is not good. If I were to play something like that I would look for a Large Cap Preferred stock which has volume and very little price movement(use limit orders) and trade it for $0.20-$0.50(approx), not for the dividend but to pick up the price movements every few days or weeks, that way I could hope to get 20-30 transactions per year and make $200-$500 per transaction before commission and maybe get a few dividends.
