If people don't want to fly as much then some airlines should go out of business and we shouldn't try to stop this process with subsidies.

Airlines, as an industry, have NEVER made money, from their inception. It is just a losing proposition -- in spite of being one of the most subsidized industries we have (where the taxpayers pay for multi-billion dollar airport facilities, FAA, etc).

Very few airlines are capable of making money -- Southwest was the first airline in history to make money on a consistent basis, and remains one of the very few which can.
