Joe, what's bizarre is that you seem to think Afghanistan is anything but a 5th rate power. How do you get to the conclusion that its something more than that? And by what measure do you take pride in defeating the Taliban? You liberals want to have it both ways. Iraq and Afghanistan are "5th rate powers", but the world's only superpower can't handle them both. Well, here we go......you guys are the brains with all the knowledge but can't manage to think a little bit beyond the box; particularly when it flies in the face of your hurriedly-put-together thesis. Politicizing the issue, once again. Sickening. You need to hear this loud and clear. You can call it what you want but I will be damned if I will allow my tax money to be spent on another military crusade that may not be necessary. We have an economy that is in the dumpers going through some significant dislocations due to 9/11; we have an ongoing war in Afghanistan and a country that expects....no, make that a country that demands we keep Bush's promise to assist them in the nation building they desperately need after we and others have pretty much bombed out their infrastructure; and worst of all, we have a very well informed, seemingly well organized group of fundamentalist ideologues who are gunning for us. At the same time and really for the first time, we are running face to face with an entire culture/religion that make up 1/3 of the world, and who are at best ambivalent about us and a bit desperate, and we are not very clear on how to deal with them. So don't you talk to me about politicizing squat.....this is as much my country and my nickel as it is yours. When you all can get beyond your paranoia and start seeing some reason, maybe then we can get to a solution that works for everyone. But in the meantime, you need to get over your threats and name calling, and your accusations of politicization and treason. They no longer will shut us up. ted
