We are talking about a two bit dictator who may or may not be developing WMD who probably can be contained but maybe not......we should know in the next few months. No one is saying that Saddam is not a menace. How to deal with him effectively with a minimal expenditure of resources is the goal.

Good point, but I hope you would agree that if the thread of war was not real, Saddam would never allow the inspectors back in, we would never know the extent (or existence) of his WMD capability, possibly until it is too late.

I have never disagree with the fact that we can't fake our resolve. It was Bush's attempts to circumvent Congress and the UN, and go straight to war, that was an issue for me.

It is completely disingenuous to say that you are for the return of the UN inspectors and be against all the means that can actually get them back in. (see Schroeder)

That's not my take on what Schroeder is saying nor are my German friends saying that.......they pretty much agree with me. In fact, the Germans have been the most effective in tracking down Al-Qaeda cells.

The Bush administration was suggesting that when we were ready to attack Iraq, our allies will join us. As if the mere fact we had decided to attack was enough reason for them to climb aboard. Of course, they have balked at that arrogant suggestion. If the positions were reversed, the conservatives of this country would be going bat shit......screaming that our sovereign rights had been threatened.
