I dealt with it more directly in another post, but I will try again here: at a minimum, there are interested parties, people affected by the matter, who deserve an apology and/or explanation. Beyond that, cowardice about stating one's case implies doubt about it. Someone who thinks he is behaving responsibly should be brave about stating it, to show his earnestness and honesty........
