Amadeo: I doubt that--MSFT is big but a buyout of GTE would be too
expensive for them and not a good fit anyway. GTE is still pretty
low-tech compared to MSFT--more likely one of the big international
telecom firms like T or BT or Deutsche or even NTT would go for GTE
to get a fast inroad to the local US market.
