Regarding the NVDA options, you have to consider the value of the chick in hand.

I agree with you there--that $3.20 could be put to use for something right now that could grow. However, maybe the best state my argument is this: If I could buy an NVDA January '10 27.5 call for $3.20, I would take it.

As far as the retention benefits of Nvidia's approach, I do not see them. I'd much prefer to see a repricing to near-money options than a straight-out perk that rewards employees immediately, rather than long term. . .but the employees may thing otherwise!
