I must confess I am at a loss over this also. Perhaps we are using words differently. Maybe when Neo comes back we can go over what he means by a "duty" and where it comes from, in his opinion. Is it a social contract? Because if it is, individuals rewrite their social contracts all the time. I guess I have done that with my chronically late friends- if indeed there is such a contract. And I am not sure there is. It will be interesting to get into this more deeply. BTW, ignore the little feral kitty sharpening her claws. Kitties can carry nasty diseases. Self interest often requires that one stay away from them.
