It seems Gore was indignant that Iraq violated (in hindsight) the terms of the cease fire and criticized Bush for allowing it. I recall General Stormin' Norman saying he really let Iraq pull a fast one on them and trusted them that when they said they needed to be allowed to fly out get some of their men when in fact they had the brass balls to go out and kill more people.

What did Gore want the US to do? Go to Baghdad? Why didn't he sponsor a bill to do that? He was crying crocodile tears for the people Iraq was killing but never really did anything about it. Is that leadership?

Gore wanted to go on record as disagreeing with Bush in some way - after all he is a democrat - and like Clinton - liked to waffle as much as possible on various issues to assure people in the future that he was on the right side of things.

Methinks Hume got it right.
