>> And Bush's cabinet has no Jews, I believe <<
that's because bush is not a total whore like clinton. clinton gave the jews anything they wanted in return for putting him in the white house for two terms. bush isn't like that and needed far less help from jews to get in office. he knew that he just needed to bring in daddy's old friends. bush isn't smart enough to understand foreign policy himself so he will just do what his advisors tell him to do. it's not hard for wolfowitz and perle and a few other well placed jews to have an impact on his foreign policy.
>> So now can you explain why it is the Bush administration that is apparently preparing to unseat Saddam when Clinton's didn't? <<
clinton didn't have the credibility with the public that bush has. he would have been accused mercilessly of wagging the dog to distract attention away from his personal scandals. furthermore, why start a war which entails risk when the economy is so hot? you're supposed to start wars to distract the public from a poor economy. fdr taught us that. the spike in the price of oil and the recession from the gulf war was still fresh in his mind. if it aint broke, don't fix it. don't forget that clinton also had to at least partially appease the pacifists from the extreme left wing of his party. bush doesn't. he comes from the war party.
even after 9/11 and all this focus on terrorism bush is encountering some resistance from the american people about invading iraq. i would imagine with no war on terrorism back then and clinton's hands full with other things there would have been no support for an all-out war on saddam. the republican congress probably would not even have given him the green light. even so clinton resumed bombing iraq starting in 1998 and kept him emasculated in conjunction with the weapons inspectors. israel surely feels that this is the prime opportunity to finish the job and be rid of saddam for good, at the same time deflecting attention from their war with the palestinians.
you have to remember one thing when dealing with israel. their number one goal has always been to enlist the aid of the united states in their war against the arabs. of course it's not in the best interest of the united states to get mired in the clash of civilizations over there in the middle east, so the israelis will use any chance they can get to inflame animosity between the united states and the arab countries. this motive has been proven in the past. on multiple occasions israel or agents of israel have attacked american interests which resulted in the death of americans in an effort to make it look as if arabs had staged the attacks so we would go to war with them. israel knew that the trade towers were going to be attacked and they did absolutely nothing to warn us because it would have served them no purpose.
as it stands, israel has everything to gain from 9/11 and a u.s. war with iraq and nothing to lose.
the attacks on september 11th engaged the united states in a global war on terrorism, which of course is mostly going to be fought against arabs. the united states military hunting arab/muslim terrorists around the globe can only be helpful to israel.
a war with iraq not only eliminates an avowed enemy of israel, saddam hussein, but it will serve israel a few other purposes. it will inflame muslim and arab hostility toward the united states. this is obviously good for israel because they want the united states to join on their side and not get along with arabs. they want us to fight them like they do, even if it means a hundred years of terrorism in america. secondly, a war with iraq waged by the united states will serve to distract world attention away from ariel sharon's war on the palestinians. thirdly, with the americans engaged in an all out assault on al qaeda and iraq after telling the world that we will do whatever necessary to protect our security, the israelis benefit from the u.s. not wanting to look hypocritical. how can we tell the israelis that they can't do whatever is necessary in their war on terrorism with the palestinians when we are doing what we feel is necessary in iraq and afghanistan. if we can enact regime change in iraq and depose or kill saddam, why can't israel do the same thing with arafat? remember, it's even more personal with sharon and arafat than it is with bush and saddam.
you have to have slightly more sophisticated thinking to understand why we are being pressed so hard for war against iraq than some on this thread, who can only parrot the line they hear from democrats. "it's about oil". oil is just an ancillary reason. |
