Last I looked, the fact they mainly sold to enterprise market and were not much exposed to telecom cutbacks was one of their great strengths. Now it turns out they're unduly exposed to business enterprise belt tightening. Hard to figure how much worse it'll get. Would be nice to see the administration provide some impetus for broadband building like they did highway construction during the 30's. Instead we'll probably have to wait for the bottlenecks to become intolerable before spending resumes. Maybe in '03. I look for it mid to late year. At least increases in bandwidth usage (even without the video and everything else that's coming) don't seem to be affected by economic cycles, and continue in a curve that's similar to what Moore's Law describes for semis.
Let's stay on top of EXTR best we can so we know how low to follow it if it keeps heading south. If this bear keeps on keeping on, they all might go the way of CORV, pricewise.
