he knew that he just needed to bring in daddy's old friends. bush isn't smart enough to understand foreign policy himself so he will just do what his advisors tell him to do.

It is true that Bush is weak on foreign affairs. That's all the more reason that he will follow the advice of his "daddy's old friends".

it's not hard for wolfowitz and perle and a few other well placed jews to have an impact on his foreign policy.

Nonsense. The arguments you've already advanced explain why he will defer to the advice of Cheney and Rumsfeld due to their age and experience. The only other person in his administration that is likely to have a big impact on his foreign policy - due to the seemingly close relationship between them - is Condoleeza Rice.

Saddam is a power-mad psychopath who has shown by his actions and private statements to other Arab leaders he intends to control the Persian Gulf's oil reserves - not only Iraq's but Iran's, SA's, Kuwait's and the other emirates. His quest for WMD's is designed to bluff the world into allowing him to build a new powerful empire centered on the Gulf. With all the Gulf's oil reserves and control of OPEC he will have the wealth and power to attempt to advance his new Babylonian Empire into superpower status. This power, if he were to achieve it, would give him immense influence throughout the Moslem world. You think we have a clash of civilizations now. It would be far worse with Saddam as the defacto leader of the hostile civilizaton. It is not in America's interest to sit back and let this happen. If you actually had America's best interests at heart, you would be able to see this.
