William,

Netscape shares moved like a scalded dog from the just under 45 support. That may have to do with Merrill Lynch buy recommendations. The company announced earnings after today's spectacular rally. It appears results are in alignment with general expectations. With 87,937,000 shares outstanding, net income was displayed as .01a, which included a charge of 6.1 million for expenses related to mergers w/ Infosoft, Paper Software and Netcode. Had the accountants not taken the charge, net income would have been .07.

Have you noticed the preponderance of anti-Microsoft pages on the web? It appears that many are investing in the maintenance of just such sites. The human factor seems to be against Microsoft in general. People magazine's "cool" and "not cool" feature even piped in the two names, w/ Netscape being the "cool."

I'm wondering though, you seemed to be expecting shockingly positive results for this reporting period. I wonder if that sentiment was widespread. If thats the case, the stock prices could be in for a beating (again).
