Not a short answer, "brands" [outside of Starbucks] don't really apply. It's really a combination of beans and roast. I would guess that you would be happy with a Columbian bean; it's the most easily found, Kona is overrated, IMO. Then it's looking for the "right" roast. If you like expresso, head for a "French roast", sic very dark. If you find expresso..."too damned strong", look for a medium roast. The color of the roasted bean, should be the main focus. Unfortunately that's a trial and error process. Until you discover the right color for you.
Go to the coffee store, look at the range of colors in the unflavored coffee bins. Pick something mid-range in the color spectrum, buy that and one color lighter and one color darker, in the smallest quantity they sell, [1/4 lb?]
Try tasting the actual bean, right before you grind it and drink a cup. Learn what/how the taste of the bean matches up with the taste of the coffee.
Think of it as a journey.
