So, Carl, I gather you will be voting for Democratic Senate and House candidates in your area for two reasons. First, because the Bush administration's foreign policy sucks. Second, because divided government makes their actions difficult if not impossible.
Sounds about right to me. It's still my impression that if the Dems campaigned on the unilateral, preemptive strike foreign policy plans of the Bush administration, they would do well. But I'm once again establishing myself as an inept political forecaster. I thought Toricelli had a breeze in Jersey.
I'm in Jersey and will vote for Toricelli and Rothman, my local representative. T looks increasingly to be in trouble. His opponent, Forrester, is among the worst candidates to come along in Jersey in a long time but his timing was impeccable. Bob Franks, who ran against Jon Corzine, in the last Senatorial election in Jersey, would be a much better Senator than Forrester. But Franks picked the wrong time to run. As would we all. Franks looked to have an easy win over a political neophyte in Corzine. But, whoops. Toricelli ditto over Forrester. |
