IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Cardiac Science, Inc. (Nasdaq: DFIB - News), a leading manufacturer of life-saving automated public access defibrillators, today announced that SkyWest Airlines, a subsidiary of SkyWest Inc. (Nasdaq: SKYW - News), purchased 192 Powerheart® Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for installation and use in the SkyWest fleet of commercial airliners. SkyWest is the nation's largest independently operated regional carrier and serves 83 cities in the United States and Canada. It also operates as United Express and Delta Connection under marketing agreements with United Airlines and Delta Air Lines. ADVERTISEMENT SkyWest Airlines Sonya Wolford, Senior Director, Inflight Operations said SkyWest purchased Cardiac Science's Powerheart AEDs after a careful evaluation of all the AEDs on the market. Ms. Wolford was impressed with the Powerheart's advanced technology and ease of use and is confident it will immediately offer greater safety to all SkyWest passengers.
"One of the primary tenets of SkyWest is passenger and employee safety," said Ms. Wolford. "By deploying the Powerheart AED on our airliners, at non-airport training and maintenance facilities as well as at our corporate headquarters, it will offer a safeguard for our customers and employees against a life-threatening heart attack. Our passengers can rest assured that the most advanced technology will be readily available should a medical emergency occur."
Cardiac Science President and CEO Raymond W. Cohen said, "It is particularly satisfying to secure this contract with SkyWest for which we faced aggressive competition from several other AED suppliers. We feel that continued success against our rivals validates our claims of making the easiest to use and most sophisticated AED on the market.
"Customer demand for our Powerheart AED product continues to be stronger than anticipated in both the US and International markets," added Cohen, "during this quarter, sales across all our product lines proved to be brisk even during the traditionally sluggish summer months. It is also becoming evident that our investment in growing our direct sales organization in the first half of 2002 from 18 to 55 persons is paying dividends, which we anticipate will be reflected in results for the second half of the year." |
