Swedish Vodafone unit says wants 3G rollout deadline Reuters, Sep 30 2002 STOCKHOLM, Sept 30 (Reuters) - Europolitan, the Swedish unit of the world's biggest mobile phone operator Vodafone <VOD.L>, asked the Swedish telecoms authority on Monday to extend the deadline for the rollout its 3G mobile network by two years. Earlier on Monday the telecoms market regulator and competition watchdog ruled against a three year extension requested in August by another Swedish 3G licence holder Orange <ORA.OA>. "We are convinced that 3G will be of great importantnce for growth in Sweden and we think that it is crucial that our country should have access to 3G," Europolitan's Chief Executive Officer Jon Risfelt said in a statement. "But the current processing times of our construction permits by the municipalities and the military it is not possible to reach the end 2003 target," he said.
