SMEDLEY BUTLER, AMERICAN HERO Dolinar, One of the most hidden chapters of American history is the conspiracy to perpetrate a coup d'etat in 1933-4. It was organized by the J.P. Morgan Bank, and Jacob Raskob, the developer of the Empire State Building with the collusion and co-operation of many GOP notables as well as Al Smith, a failed Democratic Party presidential candidate who was idiotically engaging in "sour grapes". The scheme was hatched to Butler by lawyers for the Morgan Bank and was couched in terms of having Butler, who was a celebrated and decorated U.S. Marine Corps Lt. General, approach Franklin D. Roosevelt and request that he step down "for the good of the Nation". Today, we are at a weirdly similar moment of politics at a crux moment. Sadly, the U.S. is now fully in the grip of the corporatist extremists. We have no Franklin Delano Roosevelt today. We have no Smedley Butler. What we have is only ourselves with no viable, moral, ethical and legal leadership. The Evil Empire is in control. Can we make a difference? First, we can by educating ourselves.
